Class description: Step into the dazzling world of vintage glamour with our "Classic Showgirls" burlesque class! This enchanting course is designed for those who wish to embrace the timeless elegance and playful spirit of the Golden Age of burlesque.
In this class, students will master the art of traditional bump & grind, learning to move with confidence and charisma that harks back to the iconic showgirls of yesteryear. Discover the cornerstones of a classic burlesque routine as you delve into the techniques that made these performances legendary.
In this class you will explore the art of tease with panel skirts, as well as learning to use the classic burlesque prop - the boa.
Whether you're a seasoned performer or a curious beginner, this class will inspire you to unleash your inner showgirl!

Costume:

Black panel skirt, black lingerie, heels, gloves and boa.
In week 1 costume details will be finalised and discussed. Approximate cost of boa we will be using is $20 - students will be given the option to purchase through their teacher Viola, or source themselves. Viola will assist students in where to source their costumes for the showcase. Please message with any queries you have regarding this.
Physicality:

The class incorporates movements popular in classic burlesque, so participants should have a range of motion in their hips and be able to bend their knees with ease.

Performance Conditions:
To perform in The Vintage Showcase, performers must attend the technical rehearsal on the day of the show [Saturday 2nd of August]. Tech Rehearsal times are to be confirmed.
If you are unable to attend more than one of the classes over the five weeks of scheduled classes you may not be able to move forward with the performance as part of the 2nd of August showcase - please discuss your performance options directly with Viola.
Students and performers will be required to agree to a photo and video waiver as the showcase will be filmed and photographed. Students will be provided a copy of media taken at The Vintage Showcase.
